In May, I retired after serving 27 years in the United States Air Force. I am proud that I served my country. I worked with hundreds of people who were also proud to fulfill on the promise of America, by allowing others to live the promise of their lives.
Are you fulfilling on the promise of your life? Do you love-on the people that you love? Are you fully self expressed and unstoppable in the face of circumstances? Do you find joy even in the mist of problems? Who have you helped today? Is your community better because you are a part of it?
I ask all of these questions because Veteran’s Day is the perfect holiday to renew your commitment to your life and the communities that you serve. You see, I and the people I worked with for 27 years, really don’t mind the sacrifices, particularly when it allows others to live full lives and help people in their community.
In fact, the greatest tribute that you can pay to those who gave the ultimate sacrifice is to live a full life that is an expression of who you are and build your community by helping others. Your life, being lived fully, is the gift that keeps on giving and makes every veteran smile. Living fully and making small sacrifices to serve the people in your community is another way to serve this great country. This service is available to everyone. Won’t you serve your country?
Happy Veteran’s Day to you.
