We tend to know, in America, that February is Black history month. This month is to celebrate people and their contributions – but more than that it is actually celebrating a commitment to something greater than themselves. A commitment that was so huge that there was no promise that it would be complete during their lifetime. The world we have today was given by them.
What strong bold colors represent that commitment to you? And what commitment do you have that is greater than yourself? And if you know someone with that type of commitment why don’t you nominate them for the WHO awards?
We would love to present to you, our first annual WHO? Awards.
We would love to see women recognized for all that they do and the difference that they make. This is your opportunity. We invite you to honor your girlfriend, by nominating her for a WHO Award. Now is the perfect time, to take time, to honor this amazing woman.
WHO?Bags International would like to recognize women who have been a catalyst for change in their communities. These women make a difference in the lives of others through their efforts in the fields of entertainment, local humanitarian outreach, global humanitarian outreach, economics/financial education, literature, relationships, science, religion, medicine, military and law. Up to one woman from each category will be selected.
Some nominees will be famous trailblazers while others will be unsung heroes. Nominees must have been actively engaged in their field in 2011 and have been consistently engaged in their field for at least one year. A National and Community Champion will be chosen in each field and announced by 31 March 2012. Each winner will receive a small cash prize, a certificate and the opportunity to discuss their project on our blog.
Here’s your chance to rock her world … and all it takes is 15 minutes of your time. Click here to nominate her or email her nomination to firstname.lastname@example.org. All nominations are due by29 Feb 2012. Nominations are limited to 500 to 1000 words. Please include what she has accomplished and the impact. Be specific. The nominator’s contact information must be included with the nomination. Celebrate a woman in your life by telling her story! Do it now, do it for her.
From our heart to yours,
Caught up. Caught up in how things should be. Caught up in the plans we made. Just caught up. Have you ever noticed that you are so focused on the goal ahead that you neglect to see the way you are doing it might not be that effective? Take for example, Chef Big Shake, he went on Shark Tank with the hopes of raising money for his Shrimp Burger (which I am curious about, anyone had one?). And while the Sharks thought it tasted delicious they did not want to invest.
His goal – his commitment was that he raise the funds to share something he developed with the world. If he was only focused on Shark Tank as a way to accomplish that then he might not have seen the opportunity of other investors. In fact, it could be said the investor he has now is more suited to his venture. The take away from this is that you can be committed to the goal but not how it happens or when it happens.
What are some short term goals you are working on accomplishing?
We all have a certain way we do things. These ways of being and acting have got us this far. However, I have heard a lot of people talking about how this will be the year. If this is the year, what are you going to do differently? What has to change in your life so that you not only have your goals fulfilled but left in the dust.
Tradition re-imagined might propel you to do just that. Let’s say you get up every morning and plan what needs to get accomplished for the day. That is a great and powerful way to start off the day. But what if, instead, you got up every morning and planned whose life you were going to impact and how. Now, not only do you have an action plan but you have a purpose that drives you throughout the day. If you were going to envision how your tradition would look re-imagined. What would it be?
Every year the 5 WHO?Women get together and create what that year will look like for WHO?Bags. This year we each picked words that would ground us in all that we do. We each played around with what we wanted from this year and what particularly inspired us. This is what we came up with:
Living Inside of Our Word
• Pamela – integrity and gratitude
• Tamay – commiment and authentic
• Michelle – intregity and profound making a differnce
• Tamara – integrity and powerful listening
• Evelyn – integrity
These words will be the basis for our actions and reactions. They are our chosen North compass point for 2012. What words have you picked for 2012? If you haven’t picked one, it’s never to late. We want to know!
